Last of the Lasts and KPOP Friday

My time in Korea is quickly coming to an end. I officially have 6 days left as a resident of the ROK and I am getting a little nostalgic.


I have loved every moment of this year. Every experience, every meal, every new friend has been nothing short of amazing.


My teaching job in Bucheon has allowed me to throughly explore Korea and take four international asian vacations in one year. I would like the thank the Korean Government for making one of the best years of my life possible!

This is my last weekend in Korea. Our crew is heading in Hongdae for the weekend, sleeping at our second home "Space" and I could not be more excited. This is going to be the weekend of lasts and tears. I feel it coming.


This year would have not been the same if I had not meet all my spectacular friends. <3 <3 <3

This weeks KPOP Friday is Super Junior's new hit song "Mr. Simple".


Super Junior is one of the largest KPOP boy bands, with 13 members at its peak. They are probibly the most famous Korean boy band throughout Asia; however, many of my students dislike Super Junior because they are too "old" with some of their members reaching 30.



I love watching their video because they have redicious dance moves and their large group always makes me laugh.

INDONESIA & K-POP FRIDAY

Happy Friday!

Tonight I am heading to Indonesia for a little over two weeks! I can not wait to get in the air and start my summer vacation.

One of my best friends, Olivia, is half Indonesian. Her father grew up in Jakarta and is accompanying our group of 14 friends on our trip through Indonesia. It is going to be so much fun to travel with Olivia's Dad and have someone in our group who can speak Indonesian and knows their way around the country.

We are starting our trip in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. Full of motor bikes, markets and upscale malls, I have heard Jakarta is like the wild wild west.

Next we are moving on to another large city on the island of Java called Jogyakarta. It is known to be the cultural capital of Java and is very close to two important Hindu and Buddhist temples.

Our last stop on our tour through Indonesia is Bali. We are going to spend a little over a week exploring this large island. I am going to spend a night or two in Kuta, the backpacker city, before heading into the cultural city of Ubud (where Eat Pray Love was filmed). We are going to finish our trip on a small island off the eastern coast of Bali called Nusa Lembongan. I have read that it is the real Bali, no cars allowed on the island, beautiful beaches and small bungalows right on the sand. It is going to be the perfect place to end our trip.

KPOP FRIDAY

HAPPY SUMMER FRIDAY!

The rain has finally stopped and the sun has come out. It actually feels like summer and I could not be happier. The last day of school was on Tuesday. I have been teaching a Summer English Camp for four hours each morning and then either desk warming or sneaking out to enjoy the summer weather.

Yesterday Olivia, Sam and I left school early to hit up a public pool in Seoul. We went to the Yeouido Swimming Pool, which is right on the Han River. The enterance fee is only 5,000 won; however, you must also buy a swimming cap for 4,000 won or you can't go into the water.


It was a blast. The pool was full of oiled Koreans wearing revealing bathing suits and tattoos. Also the kiddie pool was PACKED with little nuggets wearing cute suits with matching tubes and swim caps. The pool's sound system was blasting summer club jams the whole day, which was putting everyone in a good mood. I can't wait to head back to the pool on the Han to enjoy more of my summer in Seoul.

For KPOP FRIDAY I am going to give you two Korean Summer Jams that were being played non stop yesterday at the pool in Seoul.

The first song is called "Hot Summer" f(x). I also recently featured another f(x) song "(Pinocchio) Danger".

Pretty average KPOP song and video. It is a fun video and upbeat song, great for summer days lounging pool side.

The second song for this weeks KPOP Friday is "LaLaLa" by Mighty Mouth. This also isn't Mighty Mouth's first apperance on KPOP Friday. Check out their post for the song "Tok Tok".

There is not a whole lot going on with this song; I mean the title is "LaLaLa". It is a classic summer single with a video made to look just like one of LMFAO's pool parties. I have to give it to Mighty Mouth though, they are making me want to go to where ever they are in Korea and party on that boat and pool with them.
